Myopia one of the more common eye conditions is due to a elongation of the eye ball. This results in what is commonly known as Nearsightedness. Using the above chart it is easy to visualize what happens. In a myopic eye a far object has a focal plane in front of the Retina (figure A). A near object is brought into focus without accommodation (figure B). Usually accommodation is needed to bring a near object into focus on the Retina. This condition is fixed using a concave Lens. A far object is focused normally, without accommodation (figure C), and a near object is brought into focus with accommodation (figure D).
The concave Lens normalizes a myopic eye.
